The reinforced concrete structure of this complex of refrigerated warehouses is hidden by brick cladding. This portion of Shockoe Bottom is largely taken up by food processing and cold storage facilities which clustered here in the nineteenth century because of the railroads and are evidence of major commerce in produce and meat.
