This building is an unusual survivor. The Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad built section managers' houses at various points. Most were built from a common plan, and it seems likely that most of the materials, if not prefabricated sections of the buildings, were shipped to the site by rail. The board-andbatten siding gives the house a vaguely Gothic Revival look.
