The Forest Hill Land Company laid out this subdivision to the west and southwest of Forest Hill Park in 1906. The neighborhood is interesting because of the diversity of lot sizes and variety of architectural styles. Lots range from relatively compact properties along or near Forest Hill Avenue to virtual estates in the interior of the neighborhood. Architectural styles in the neighborhood include Arts and Crafts and Georgian Revival as well as mixtures of these styles. Particularly noteworthy are the Arts and Crafts houses on the 1200 block of 41st Street.
