The Regent started out as a legitimate theater, with a large stage house, dressing rooms, and an auditorium that could accommodate 1,034 theatergoers. It was converted into a motion picture theater in the late teens, and the present Moderne neon and incandescent marquee and front were added around 1939. Next door is another 1930s remodel, Wong's Cafe, which with its curved window and glass brick beautifully sums up the commercial streamline Moderne of that decade. Both the cafe and the theater facades are sheathed in Vitrolite.
