Built as part of the exclusive Plantation residential community, the clubhouse was designed to host PGA tournament events. Stone steps, walkways, and planted terraces set the tone while transitioning guests from the parking lot to the clubhouse. A long, windowed corridor follows the mauka-makai axis of the property, and leads guests into the heart of this finely detailed, “plantation Moderne” building with its Wrightian-style windows and Moderne wall sconces and railings. A pro shop and restaurant stand at one end of a long corridor, which descends a flight of stairs to a pair of tall, double bifold doors. The restaurant is open on three sides thanks to walls of double bifold doors, and offers sweeping views of the Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore– designed golf course, the Pailolo Channel, and Molokai. The stone for the building base and myriad walls came from Kapalua, while the floors are of Italian granite. The soft silver-green roof tiles reflect the color of the pineapple fields which formerly dominated this hillside. Since 1999, the Plantation course has hosted the PGA's season-opening Mercedes Championship Tournament.
