This small two-story, ten-room businessman's hotel was purchased by Ayataro Nanbu in 1917 and operated by his family until his death in the 1960s. In addition to providing accommodations for visitors to this plantation town, the Nanbu had a bar, pool hall, and restaurant on the ground floor; the large second-story common room served as a venue for community meetings and wedding receptions. Behind the hotel are its kitchen and a four-bedroom house, once occupied by the Nanbu family. Both buildings feature wraparound lanai. This complex sat vacant for a number of years and was in very poor condition, but thanks to the efforts of historic preservationist Tom Quinlen and others, it was rehabilitated in 1998.
