Arden's founder built for himself a twin-gabled, Old English-style cottage of hollow tile construction. Artists' studios occupied the steeply pitched rooms upstairs, under the red slate roof. The exterior is half-timbered, with leaded windows, and “Tomorrow is a New Day” is carved on a fascia. Behind the house stands the Homestead cabin (1900), the first Stephens residence.
