This huge fraternal building adds an almost regal presence to the fringes of downtown. Five stories tall, faced with cream-colored brick, it has a broad entablature that caps the threestory, three-bay frontispiece on 14th Street and continues around the building as a belt course. An enormous sculpted, double-headed eagle wearing a crown perches on the ledge above. The top seems a bit weak for such an otherwise strong composition, but an original rendering indicates that the lower stories and the eagle always garnered the most attention.
