Occupying another corner at downtown's pivotal intersection, this large business block originally housed a bank, a hotel, and an opera house. Architects from Columbus, Ohio, designed the buff-colored brick building that stands three stories tall and extends nineteen bays on 2nd Street and fifteen bays on Main Avenue. The first floor has been modified with a granite bank facade, but upper stories and roofline are largely unchanged. Segmentalarched windows capped with brick hood molds establish a strong rhythmic pattern, as does a finely molded and handsomely executed corbeled brick cornice. Turreted pavilions center the rooflines on both street facades, while a rounded bay capped with a witch's-cap roof provides an architectural exclamation point at the street corner.
