Generous fenestration, with original twoover-two sash and louvered shutters, looks out to extensive landscaped grounds and mountains beyond. The house is known locally as the home of three notable women: novelist Mittie Clark (Mrs. Alex McV.) Miller, wife of the builder; Congresswoman Ruth Bryan Rhode, daughter of Williams Jennings Bryan; and Mary (Mrs. Andrew) McThenia, who landscaped the property.
