This musical printing house moved from Singers Glen to Dayton in 1878 and established one of the largest operations of its kind in the South. The press inherited the singing school traditions of Joseph Funk (see
RH34
) and helped to popularize and revive the character-note methods of shape-note music instruction throughout the South by printing Musical Million (from 1870 to 1914) and more than fifty songbooks. The press's second printing office is a two-story brick building with double storefronts and an elaborate brick cornice.
