Built for physician Bruce James, this transitional Queen Anne house is moving toward early-twentieth-century classicism. With an octagonal corner tower and a two-story bay window on the north side, the house has a Queen Anne variety of projections, but their exuberance is toned down. A hint of squareness is creeping into the shapes, and a distinctly classical Palladian window and an Ionic porch herald the coming newer, more formal classicism.
