One of Floyd's most prominent Victorian confections, this house was built for Dr. J. M. Harman and his family from a George F. Barber mail-order design. Standing two-and-a-half-stories high, the asymmetrical brick house is topped by a complex pyramidal roof. Front gables embellished with pressed-metal shingles, lower cross gables, and an eyebrow dormer help create the picturesque silhouette. Soapstone is used for the sills and key-stones of several windows, and the fanciful wraparound porch has turned balusters and columns, a spindle frieze, sawn brackets, and molded railings.
