Built by Michael M. Collins to serve train passengers needing overnight accommodations, this three-story, twenty-bay brick hotel is situated in a small commercial section of town opposite the C&O Railroad passenger station (AL8). The building has four ground-level retail storefronts flanking a central entrance, defined by recessed Doric columns, that leads to the upper-level hotel. The brick facade is enlivened by rhythmically spaced windows and capped with gauged brickwork.
