This simple Foursquare house with some Queen Anne details is the sole remaining oceanfront residence in the heavily developed southern section of the resort strip. Constructed of brick with wooden trim, the house is wrapped on three sides by porches supported by bracketed posts, and it is crowned by an open belvedere. Built in 1895 for Bernard Peabody Holland, Virginia Beach's first mayor, it was purchased after the turn of the twentieth century by the de Witt family, who lived there until 1988. The house has been converted to a museum with exhibits on wildfowl and wildfowl art.
