This skyscraper was originally built as a bank headquarters. Above the heroic entrance portal framed by four massive in antis Ionic columns, the mass of the building diminishes slightly as it rises, accentuating its height. A comparison of its relative simplicity with Clinton and Russell's nearby Mutual Building (
RI133
) illuminates the tastes of different decades. The 1962 addition is clumsily joined to its parent, although some attempt was made to maintain the horizontal lines of the original building's windows.
