c. 1724. 1946–1955, restoration, Milton L. Grigg. 221 King St.

The city visitor center is a reconstruction, containing a few original fragments, of a house thought to have been built in 1724 and moved to the site c. 1748. The house is an excellent example, based upon photographs and archaeology, of the highly detailed work for which Grigg, a Charlottesville-based architect and Alexandria native, became known. Maps and information can be obtained here.
