The factory displays its reinforced concrete construction forthrightly. It is the lone survivor of several large factories that used to line the Potomac River in this area. Perhaps as important is its renovation in the 1970s for reuse as craftspeople's and artists' studios and display spaces. The postmodern addition on the south is part of the 1978 renovation.
