One of San Antonio's most difficult historic preservation battles resulted in this thirteen-story design with its serrated glass curtain wall facing west. The cause of the fight was the Texas Theatre, built in 1926 and designed by Boller Brothers, which, despite strong public protest, was largely demolished. The new tower used the theater's facade, marquee, and ticket booth, all vaguely Spanish Baroque in character, as applied decoration.
