Set in the middle of an existing campus, the four-building, orange brick instructional facilities complex creates a 300-foot-long linear mall with a crescent-shaped loggia and secondary courtyards. It brings to the campus “a new sense of order with an identifiable heart,” as described by architects David and Elizabeth Chu Richter. Of note is the large canopy daringly suspended by cables from two, six-story towers at the north of the complex. Composed of a set of sixteen hyperbolic paraboloids, the 60 × 60–foot canopy pays tribute to Corpus Christi's lead in thin shell concrete construction in the late 1950s and 1960s.
