This is a regionalist experiment by McGonigle organized around a walled courtyard. Its large-scale, rough brick, which resembles more the texture and shape of adobe, as well as its exposed rafter ends, recall the built heritage of the upper western regions of the Rio Grande, as opposed to that of Brownsville.
