Fortuitously, in the immediate vicinity of a doubled half-house is this gabled prototype. It was moved from a site included in the six-acre farm on the Point which was originally allotted to William Coddington, one of the founders of Newport. Although it has been extensively restored, portions of the chamfered beam frame mark it as a very old house. The simply paneled door with small transom capped by an overhead molding, although new, typifies doors of the period for middle-class residences.
