This gambrel with chimney slightly off center and a lean-to extension to the rear is exceptional for its brick end wall, tied to its frame by S-shaped irons. Such walls are rare in Newport houses. The five-bay front was also off center, a stretch of blank wall originally terminating the house toward the end opposite the brick wall, into which additional windows were later cut. The bulky chimney serves four fireplaces at the first floor: one toward the center of each interior wall of a large and a small parlor, in front to either side of the off-center door; two more angled into the corners of the kitchen and what is now a dining room (perhaps once a downstairs bedroom) in the rear lean-to.
