Like Washington Street, Second Street has a cluster of houses revealing variations on the gambrel. The James Davis house is another three-quarter house, this with a transomlighted door capped by a full pediment. In the John Frye House, a later, gabled ell collides with the simplest of one-and-one-half-story gambrels. Frye, who bought the house in 1770, seems to have been its second owner. Opposite, the Joseph Gardner House, now known as the George Fowler House for a mid-nineteenth-century owner, is a half house with a portal fanlight breaking into its pediment.
