When the county was established in 1813, Lebanon's county offices were located here in the house of minister and physician William H. Stoy. Its sole grace notes are the entrance porch and the brownstone belt course and lintels within the field of rough-hewn limestone. Now the home of the county historical society, it houses a remarkable model of the elegant Federal-style courthouse of 1818 at 8th and Cumberland streets. That structure was damaged by fire in 1908 and demolished in 1965 for the present utilitarian, modernist yellow brick and limestone-trimmed courthouse at S. 8th and Oak streets (1960, William Murray).
