Given the general hostility of the late twentieth century to early modern design, the survival of the remarkably complete Lipkin Furniture Store by Robert Bishop (a pupil of Frank Lloyd Wright) and John Wright on Coatesville's main business street attests to the economic slowdown of the community more than any particular affection for the style. Conversely, its presence demonstrates the continuing economic vitality of the town into the post–World War II period. Above its dramatically skewed show windows, the upper stories are of blue-green glass with industrial sash, but here as fashion rather than as truly industrial. Its angled vertical sign confronts both directions of E. Main Street.
