The imposing federal presence of this three-story granite- and limestone-clad building reflects Taylor’s frequent use of classical elements. The central three bays project slightly from the five-bay building, and engaged Ionic columns rise from the second story to a classical entablature and pediment. A balustraded parapet completed the building, which has a copper-sheathed hipped roof. The building is a powerful and imposing composition, now repurposed to interpret local history.
