The large half-timbered Kunsky house is a rare example of a residence designed by noted theater designer Crane. C. Howard Crane received many commissions from John A. Kunsky for designs for theaters in his Detroit empire: the Madison (1917; demolished), the Capitol (
WN29), and the Palms (now The Fillmore, 1925) at 2115 Woodward Avenue. The house is a theatrical rendition of neo-Tudor.
