1989, Hugh Newell Jacobsen. 1350 Kirkway Rd.

Jacobsen, born in Grand Rapids in 1929 and one of America's most important residential architects, drew inspiration from French chateaux for this design. It combines Postmodern freedom with the discipline of the modernists. The central side-gable block is linked by connectors to paired hipped-roof dependencies. Prominent chimneys and large multipaned windows mark the large brick house.
