Striving for historical accuracy, Gildersleeve familiarized himself with the architecture of Colonial Williamsburg and created this Colonial Revival design. The symmetrical two-stage hipped-roof main building is at right angles to the one-and-a-half-story connected dependency. The chimneys, the nine-over-nine windows, the pedimented door with a surround of fluted Ionic pilasters, and the dormers reveal attention to correctness and add to the authenticity of the design. The red brick walls are laid in Flemish bond.
