Like nearby 125 Summer (FD24), this building may today be used as an argument against contextualism. Clichés of the postmodern style appear in the massing—the gray granite-clad tower rising from the fifth floor, the echoes of neighboring buildings, and, above all, in the skylit marble atrium, its series of balconies, seating areas, and ficus trees more reminiscent of flamboyant hotel lobbies than office structures. Crowned by red enamel panels framing stepped arches, the building has become a strong presence on the downtown skyline.
