A sparse composition of plain brick volumes, this is a design that the Modernist of the 1940s and 1950s would have pointed to with pride as a “pioneer” example of great things to come. The columned entrance and simple stone decoration of the entrance pavilion would probably have been seen as just a touch backward, though today we might feel that these elements are the building's principal assets. The recently added bright, shining metal windows, as is so often the case, drastically mar the original design.
