Circuit-riding sky pilots (as westerners called their traveling ministers) led services in this church, named for Ruth Heath, whose father donated the land and $1,000. Contractor William Holmes supervised locals who donated their labor as well as supplies and furnishings. The frame church, with horizontal wood siding and a wide pointed-arch window in the front gable end, is a variant of the Gothic Revival style. Under a steep-pitched roof, the transomed doors are in the base of a square, open corner bell tower. Since a 1980s restoration, the building has been used for gatherings and meetings.
