Built according to Carnegie Library specifications by local brickmasons, this virtually unaltered gem retains the original floor plan, golden oak card catalog, shelving, and portrait of Andrew Carnegie, who donated $10,000 and the plans. The two-story gray brick classical temple has fluted Doric columns flanking the east entry portico. The lower south entrance is off a mini-park with a Spanish arrastra (an animal-powered drag with a large boulder for crushing ore).
