J. E. Scobey's Billiard Saloon occupied this early brick commercial structure before the Knights of Pythias purchased it in 1885. The second-story round-arched windows were matched by arched windows on the first floor before conversion to solid plate glass storefronts. The building is now completely surrounded by the giant, four-story Bullwhackers Casino (1992), which has preserved only the facade of the old hall. Here, and in many other casinos, cheap contemporary roof-top screens hiding mechanical systems wreck any neo-Victorian illusions perpetrated by the rest of the building.
