This substantial brick country schoolhouse with a square, open bell tower became the county museum in 1976. The fenced museum complex incorporates the 1891–1902 Grand County Courthouse and County Jail, both of hewn logs. Two iron cells and iron bunks remain in the jailhouse. Other buildings moved into this museum complex include a sod-roofed blacksmith shop and a second school (1920) that was used between 1942 and the 1960s to house migrant lettuce workers.
