1879, Francis Grimball; 1987 south facade restoration. 4 W. Liberty St.

Brigham came to Savannah in 1835 from Southborough, Massachusetts, making a name for himself in commerce and banking. This Second Empire house by local builder Grimball replaced his previous residence on the same site. A newspaper account describes it as having thirteen bedrooms and two baths and costing $16,000, a considerable amount at the time. The five-bay facade is noteworthy for its perpendicular stair facing Liberty Street, but its side porch also makes a grand gesture toward the corner of Bull Street.
