1880, F. E. Ruffini; 1938, John Astin Perkins. 115 S. Kentucky St.

The three-bay, two-story, Italianate jail, with a T-shaped plan, is constructed of fossilized limestone blocks from a local quarry. Smooth-faced corner pilasters and shawl arches over the windows contrast with the rock-face walls. Thick scroll brackets support the eaves and a pediment over the central bay. Renovations made in 1938 were funded by the PWA. The jail closed in 1979 and has been used for restaurants, a bookstore, an art gallery, and, currently, private offices.
