Architect Michelson and his brothers, Christian and Ole, built the church for the Norwegian settlers in the area as a satellite of Our Savior’s Church (GH13). The simple, rectangular church features a wooden tower above its gabled front that rises from a square base with louvered openings (bell installed in 1897) and an eight-sided spire. The stonework of rough-cut rectangular blocks is of fine quality, with dressed quoins and window arches. A new church by George Burnett was built in 1917 in Cranfill’s Gap at 402 Meridian Street, but this church is still used for special services.
