This private house on an imposing site on Foley Inlet can be examined from the road. Constructed by a Revolutionary War general and politician, John Cropper, Jr., it is one of the most substantial houses on the Eastern Shore. The wood-frame central section with Palladian windows has brick ends. As is typical, a set of outbuildings trails off on one side and includes, in addition to the usual forms, a dovecote and a privy with raised paneling on the interior.
