This L-shaped building has a two-story core in an octagonal—or square with chamfered corners—plan. The wings are of Loxtave construction—prefabricated, precut tongue-and-groove planks joined with a patented end connection. As in plank or log construction, the walls needed no studding or bracing. The building was erected as the meteorological station for the naval air facility.
