The best example of a design that was used at least four times in this residential development, this one-and-a-half-story house has a side-gable roof, the center portion of which originally extended in the center to cover the porch as a shed roof. In this example, still owned by the U.S. government, the entrance has been changed to a gable-roofed vestibule and the roofline has been raised in the rear, but the beveled siding and exposed rafter ends are original elements. Other examples of this design are Cottage 26 at 637 West Third Avenue, now displaying Tudor Revival characteristics; Cottage 27 at 627 West Third Avenue, wood shingled with a gable entry; and Cottage 20 at 534 West Second Avenue.
