The Classical Revival red brick building is among the most unusual cultural institutions in Central Texas. Built in a Greek cross plan with a central dome, classical porticos, and a stained glass memorial window, the library was a bequest by Dr. Clark to the people of Lockhart. The two-story building originally included a community auditorium that was removed in 1956 to provide space for more books.
