This long, rectangular frame structure, one story tall with a gable roof, houses a newspaper that published its first edition in 1883 in Huntersville, the former county seat. In 1892 the editors moved their operations to Marlinton. The shop houses a hand-fed press, manufactured in New York under patents dated 1882 and 1890, and a paper folder patented in 1893. The owners of the Pocahontas Times acquired the equipment c. 1910. Until the 1980s, the front page of the weekly newspaper was put to bed the old way, using that machinery.
