Clarksburg's tallest building provides a tenstory-plus-mezzanine example of early-twentieth-century skyscraper design. Conceived as a column, the building has a tall Doric base, followed by a seven-story shaft of unadorned office floors. The two uppermost floors and a prominent modillioned cornice form the capital. Clad in limestone and buff brick with a terracotta cornice, the combination bank and office building was designed by a prominent Baltimore firm.
