Across the road from the inn is a group of six identical cast stone houses, all two stories tall with hipped roofs. Along with several similar houses behind them, these World War I–vintage buildings are the oldest group of EMCO company houses. North of the cast stone houses is a larger group of Colonial Revival houses dating from the 1930s. Minter Homes Corporation built this group from so many different plans and designs that they appear almost as a three-dimensional catalog of the company's offerings. Among them is a large, Ushaped, gambrel-roofed apartment complex. Several of the houses have sloping roofs covering side entry porches, similar to company houses at Coalwood (McD23) in McDowell County.
