Dudley Newton's Crossways is a straightforward presentation of Colonial Revival form at rather gigantic scale. Painted white, its most elaborate feature a monumental entry portico of Corinthian columns, it suggests a southern source. Although now broken into condominiums, this was one of the renowned centers of Newport social life during the Fishes' summer stays, the site of huge luncheons, lively dinners, and grand balls all orchestrated by Mamie Fish, one of the leaders of Newport summer colony, and her social collaborator, Harry Lehr.
