1882. 2 Potter Ct. (corner of Main St.) (visible with difficulty)

The owner of the Clyde Print Works, which once operated in nearby Clyde, West Warwick, commissioned this splendid country house, well screened on a rise at the end of a winding drive, with a matching carriage house. It exemplifies the Queen Anne style at its best, in a panoply of angular massing, extravagant porch, and half-timbered walls filled with a mix of clapboard, cut shingle, and stucco, all climaxed by tall, shaped brick chimneys and remarkable shingle patterns. The display here, however, celebrates domestic function in ornamental forms derived from the qualities inherent in the materials used to build them.
