1750. 675 Hope St.

This is one of the best-documented houses of eighteenth-century Bristol. Carpenter and joiner John Peckham framed and finished the house in a five-month period, selling it to Jeremiah Wilson in 1751. A four-bay house, composed around a central chimney, its chief feature of interest is the exquisite pedimented entrance, whose fanlight, moldings, and ornament are of very fine quality. It can stand comparison with some of the town's best doorways, including that of the Parker Borden House.
