The quirky character of this Queen Anne church is typical of the Walker firm, which produced its share of eccentric buildings in Rhode Island and neighboring states. The congeries of shingle-clad wooden shapes is a ghost, in a more ephemeral material, of medieval English masonry parish churches. The form of the building, with apsidal front flanked by hooded entrance and corner tower, repeats that of the Walkers' Christ Church Episcopal (1888–1889) in Providence. The tower itself is unconventional, cylindrical in shape and remarkably slender in proportion. Such features give the church a whimsical character appropriate for what began as a mission of St. John's Episcopal Church at Barrington Center (see entry below) to serve summer visitors at Drownville.
